By Lynn Schroeder, Vice President of Client Relations, Council for Adult and Experiential Learning

We would like to congratulate CAEL board member and Business Champions member, Kimo Kippen, chief learning officer at Hilton Worldwide, for winning the Chief Learning Officer CLO of the Year award at the Fall 2015 Chief Learning Officer Symposium.

The annual awards recognize outstanding enterprise education leaders, departments and vendors who have developed and implemented exemplary learning and development programs that produce measurable results for their companies.

Since joining Hilton Worldwide in 2010, Kippen launched Hilton Worldwide University to deliver training and development opportunities to employees at all levels from corporate headquarters to Hilton’s 4,200 hotels, resorts and time-share properties in 93 countries.

Hilton Worldwide recently partnered with CAEL to launch the GED Assistance Program to help employees earn their GED diploma. Employees who choose to take part will get one-on-one sessions with an adviser — an initial meeting and weekly check-ins — as well as study guides or online test prep tutorials. Hilton will also cover the cost of the four-part GED test. Hilton currently has around 5,000 worker that don’t have a college diploma.
